Montezuma Wind Machine

2013 has been a rollercoaster year for MFM, and because of it, we're stronger and more powerful than ever before! Events spanning from lineup changes to crazy shows held in strange towns have allowed us to grow as a group, and move forward. Ever onward, and upward.

We've got battle scars and bloody floors to illuminate our path into our past, just as most bands do. While these may have been initially painful, the lessons we've gathered make up for the discomfort.

As 2013 draws to a close, all of us at Montezuma Fire Machine want to thank you for your support. O how many incredible people we've had the privilege to meet! All the artists that have allowed us to play with them! So many of you have stepped forward to lend a hand or encouragement. Without these blessings, we wouldn't be here. As the future looms before us all, let's turn into the wind together and weather the coming storm!

Montezuma Frost Machine

The sun is dying in the sky and seeks to leave us in the cold. The nights are long and beautiful, and the stars seem to shine more brightly with the winter air. Can you hear the wind calling through your windows? Howling and whistling, wailing and groaning! It can sometimes be insidious. Our violinist's trustworthy suburban steed The Beast of Burban (also lovingly known as Boat, or Thundernuts), our touring vehicle, got its eye poked out by a tree limb that smashed the windshield. The Beast is currently undergoing surgery at the automobile hospital.

In other news:

MFM recently had an excellent trip to Indianapolis for a Halloween show at Birdy's Bar and Grill. Our friends in Dell Zell hosted the event called Rocktoberfest. Joining us were Scumbelina, Minute Details, and Bleedingkeys. Beer flowed from pumpkin taps and madness ensued at the afterparty. Indianapolis has always been kind to us!

Our recent skip down to Franklin's The Pond on the 11th of November for the Monday Night Open Jam series proved to be great, as always.

The Fire Machine and JVLN have begun a monthly show at one of our favorite local watering holes, FooBAR, and today, November 13th, marks our next installment featuring local bass-alien Scott Fernandez and General Joystick.

We'll be supporting local metal chaps Flummox for their album release show at The Owl Farm on November 30th.

Also, our test vinyl pressing from Erika Records arrived in the mail! "Astrolabe" is cleared for launch after the long wait. Needless to say, we are excited to finally be able to bring this new collection of songs to you! A release date is being determined, and we'll be putting on a show to officially bring this mammoth into the world! More info on the release of "Astrolabe" will be coming soon.

Montezuma Water Machine

The Harvest Moon has risen and is falling.

Montezuma Fire Machine will be playing at the legendary DINO'S on Sept. 27th with the Lord of Bass Treemaster Scott Fernandez. And we mean...THE...Scott Fernandez.

Look to the stars and tell us that we're crazy. I mean, we're crazy, but we know a good thing when we feel one. Strictly musing, Scott Fernandez will lead you through a labyrinth and out the sunny exit with a bewildered smile. The power. The pwr.

If everyone can refrain from clustering too closely, eating too many burgers/drinking/touching each other/and/or/prescribing to mutually/enjoyed entertainment, then Dino's won't destroy us all.

Montezuma Exploration Machine

August is halfway over, and the Fire Machine has been sailing through uncharted waters for a period of time (since before our last post). We have learned a great deal about ourselves and what it means to work together, which is not always a calm rain. Storms come and go, however, and ultimately the challenge from these is to not allow them to impede progress. Steering around the flotsam and jetsam the best we can...

Recently, we have been working with some new companions. J.P. Clardy joins us now in electric guitarland, and Jeremy Abbott rains down hammers as our percussionist. As a working five-piece, we're busy at work on the music that we want to make. Music that we must make! It's a call from something ancient...engraved on our human temperament.

Great news!!! We have begun pressing our 12" vinyl record, titled "Astrolabe." This will be the second output of recordings by Montezuma Fire Machine, and if there is a way(s) to express how excited we are, then surely we will have difficulty hiding it when you see us playing these new tunes in concert! The combined feelings from our progressing sonic atmosphere and several fresh perspectives are visceral and inspiring. MFM cannot wait another minute!

We would like to say Thank You to the countless individuals who have been around to help and push us. Thank You, Thank You!

And now, onward and upward. Stand fast! Secure the rigging!

Montezuma Tonic Machine

Hello all, we're officially on the other side of our Midwest extravaganza. Special thanks go out to John Sloan (Mercy Academy), Abby Vice, and Eric Meyers (Ford Theatre Reunion) for putting us up and for the shenanigans that ensued. The fine folks at the Charlie Tonic Hour had some very kind words to say about our gig in Lexington. Check out Episode 54 of their podcast as well as this write up that Ginny did about us!

We have a few more shows in the works for y'all, some in town and some out of town. Kickstarter incentives are also being sent out, we're still working on a few of the bigger items (posters, mugs etc) so stay posted. The last sessions for the record have also been booked, it feels good to be approaching the end of this phase of the process of making the album happen.

Our next show is in Nashville at the End on January 12th with our buddies Bear in the Campsite, Grooveshire (Cincinnati, OH), and Scott Fernandez

Stay tuned y'all

Peace, Love, and The New England Patriots,
